an authentic task and yet adds a tint of humor. Affective education was also well incorporated.
Refreshing idea for the topic:) but may want to limit the amount of data to be used or it may get too complicated for them:)
Hey....very good idea. I would like to log in to your blog to try out the question too. I also want to retire without woes and worries.
Interesting use of websites incorporated in blog.
A good activity to find out how much we will have when we retire.
Very good idea. Pupils learn to access information through the links created by the teacher. There's so much to learn from real-world maths.
the idea of retirement seems a bit too far-fetched and distant for teenagers..perhaps buying of handphones and notebooks on instalments and such may be a more realistic situation for them.
Presume this is group work.
The 1st part of the task can possibly get pupils to "ask" what kind of information should they ask so that it will help them in the planning - this will enable them to surface 'parameters/ variables' that they have to scope and fix before working on the case.
>> Can tap on the Comments feature or an quick discussion forum (like QuickTopic)
Can insert hyperlinks to resources websites like those of CPF, housing scheme, etc.
Pupils can put up their proposal in their group blog (which allows them to share). Assign 2 groups to peer review the proposal and ask questions for clarification.
PS: Can adopt the IBL approach here.
Hm... a task with NE integrated :D
