Topic: Maths Puzzles

Level: Secondary 2

Blog Title: Puzzles (http://gloriamath.blogspot.com/)

Purpose:

  • To encourage higher order thinking
  • To create a platform for students to share their opinions
Description of Activity:

  • Enrichment for students (a form of content, process and product differentiation)
  • To gather various strategies adopted by various students.
  • To allow students to post other similar puzzles for friends to give comments/solutions.

How the blog is used:

  • Enriching, Interesting and intriguing puzzles.
  • Diagrams (we tried but encountered technical problems).

The puzzles in the blog indeed tickles pupils' minds and they responded via the Comments features (so far).

As suggested in the "description of the activity", To stretch the use a little more, can consider:
> Allowing pupils to co-edit the blog where they could post the diagrams of their solutions to the puzzle. [Group accounts can be considered]
> Groups can take turn to post a "maths" story or "Puzzle" --- Puzzle / Story of the Week
